Tevi Teg translates as 'to grow beautifully' in Cornish and is based in the beautiful woodlands at The Lowen School, in Gunnislake, in Cornwall.
We feel passionate that children should be immersed in the outdoors and connect with nature as much as possible from a young age - we believe that our environment and ethos are a perfect way to do this. The value of the great outdoors and connecting with nature should not be underestimated, it is instrumental for a child's development and for positive mental health and many other benefits such as positive self esteem, confidence, independence, resilience, the ability to risk take and assess risk and to be connected to world around them.
At Tevi Teg we have a tranquil, safe and well-equipped woodland learning area with lots of additional outdoor space for on site activities alongside our off site outdoor learning opportunities.
In addition to outdoor learning, we also run an alternative provision within our woodland base for those struggling to access full time mainstream education. This provision is child-led and can be used as part of a blended or alternative curriculum for those on role at a different school setting, or as part of an EOTAS package for those not currently on role at a setting.
We want our students to thrive, we support this by recognising and celebrating their individuality, their unique learning strengths and their personal aspirations. Many students may have found previous educational settings difficult to manage in, at Tevi Teg it is our resolute belief that if our students are to thrive we must understand and work with their strengths and when barriers to their learning occur, support them to overcome these by ensuring the environment and the relationships they develop are enabling, consistent and predictable.
